XiNCOM Router Setup for VoIP

Overview
The XiNCOM Twin WAN 500 and 600 Series will support VoIP services offered by companies such as Vonage, AT&T, Verizon, etc. It is recommended that the following instructions be used as a general guide due to fact that different VoIP Resellers use different VoIP adapters such as:

• D-Link DVG-1120M
• Motorola VT1005v
• Sipura SPA-2000
• Linksys RT41P2
• Mediatrix 2102
• Linksys PAP2
• Primus iAN-02EX
• Linksys RT31P2
• Cisco ATA 186

The following will instruct you on how to configure the XiNCOM router or gateway to interface with your VoIP adapter and allow priority VoIP traffic to pass through. XiNCOM cannot provide support regarding your specific VoIP adapter brand. For specific issues regarding VoIP adapters or services, please consult your adapter's manual and/or VoIP reseller.

Note: The following procedure has been tested with a Motorola VT1005v VoIP adapter. These instructions are not supported by the XC-DPG402 Twin WAN Router.



1.
Place the VoIP Adapter behind the Twin WAN Router or Gateway.

Log into the Router/Gateway firmware interface and go to the Advanced Setup section. Click Custom Virtual Server configuration menu. Create entries in the configuration for the following ports: (submit the form after each change)

Protocol Type: UDP
Ports 5060-5070
Port 69
Port 123
Ports 10,000-25,000

Note: The ports listed above are the general ranges that are used by VoIP adapters. Please consult your adapter's user manual or VoIP Reseller support for specific port ranges to use.

Select which broadband connection to use by selecting either WAN 1 or WAN 2 through the Interface Binding field. Selecting Both will cause unexpected conflicts or interruptions. It is recommended to bind VoIP services to the broadband connection with the higher upload rate.

Go to the QoS Configuration section, click QoS Setup and enable the following:
  • QoS
  • Process ToS Field
  • Overwrite Policy Priority

Go the Policy Configuration screen. Indicate a policy name and set the source to MAC Address. In one of the 4 fields, input the MAC Address stamped on the bottom of your VoIP adapter and submit the changes.

5.
Enable UPnP on the Twin WAN Router/Gateway by going to Advanced Setup and UPnP configuration menu.

Setup for the XiNCOM Router or Gateway to interface with the VoIP Adapter is complete. You may now utilize VoIP services on your network.
