Section 2: Routing
These settings are provided to deal with non-standard situations or to provide additional options for advanced users.
Using a Twin WAN Gateway with an existing DHCP server on your network |
If your LAN already has a DHCP Server and you wish to continue using it, the following procedure is required:

The DHCP Server function in the Twin WAN Gateway must be disabled. This setting is on the LAN & DHCP screen. |

Your DHCP Server must be configured to provide the Twin WAN Gateway’s LAN IP address as the Default Gateway. |
| 3. |
Your DHCP Server must provide correct DNS addresses to the PCs. |

Dynamic Routing

Dynamic Routing Console
RIP is a dynamic routing protocol which is used to direct traffic over the network. Enabling this feature will automatically build static routes that define how the network traffic flows. Select the appropriate port- LAN, WAN 1, and/or WAN 2- where other network routers are connected to your network.
Note: Only use this if you have more than one router on the network. All routers or gateways on the network must support both RIP and RIP v2.
Static Routing
If there is more than one router on a network, the routing table must be configured. This allows the Twin WAN Gateway to know what packet goes to which router. A routing table entry is required for each LAN segment on the network.

Static Routing Console
To edit an existing entry, select it from the list, and click the Select button. The screen will then update with the data for the selected entry. If the Index is 0, this is a System entry which you can neither delete nor modify.
Input the network address of the remote LAN segment in this field. For standard class “C” LANs, the network address is the first 3 fields of the Destination IP Address. The 4th (last) field can be left at 0.
Input the Network Mask for the remote LAN segment in this field. For class “C” networks, the default mask is 255.255.255.0.
Input the IP Address of the Gateway or Router which the Twin WAN Gateway must use to communicate with the destination above. (NOT the router attached to the remote segment)
Select the correct interface (usually LAN). The WAN interface is only available if NAT (Network Address Translation) is disabled.
The number of “hops” (routers) to pass through to reach the remote LAN segment. The shortest path will be used.
Note |
If there is an entry or entries in the Routing table with an Index of zero (0), these are System entries. You can not modify or delete these entries.
